Parents, especially mothers, have unconditional love for their children. They will do everything and anything, to see their children with smiles on their faces.

But how often do children return the love? We, like children, should give back to our parents as much as we can. Even small gestures can make them happy, too!

A boy from China showed the best example of how you can give back to your parents.

Model Son

Gu Guang Zhao from Henan, China was a top student in his school. He earned a lot of awards for his academic achievements and had a bright future ahead of him.

However, he quit attending school early in October. The reason? He is helping his severally ill mother at home to raise money for her kidney transplant.

Gu wrote a letter address to his teacher to ask if he could stop attending school to help his mother. He learned that his 40-year-old mother is slowly dying due to kidney failure.

Working to Help

At a very young age, Gu started working to raise money for his mother’s operation. According to The Coverage, he needs to earn at least 500,000 yuan (US$75,360).

Unfortunately, the family also need money for the mother’s dialysis needs. The family’s debt already rose to 100,000 yuan (US$15,000). Despite this, Gu is still working his hardest for his mother.

Gu’s father left his job three years ago as a construction worker when he learned that his wife got uremia, a severe complication in the kidney. Uremia is a serious chronic kidney disease when the urea and other waste products build up in the body because the kidneys cannot eliminate them. These build up can become very poisonous to the body once they reach certain levels.

Donations Poured In

Other than raising money for the treatment, Gu also volunteered to donate one of his kidneys for his mother. However, it is still unknown whether he is a suitable donor or not. The father and the son are working together as peanut harvesters to raise money for the operation.

After the story went viral, netizens from China were deeply touched by the boy’s unconditional love for his mother. Donations started to pour in to help them raise the money needed for the operation.
